4th April 2017

The Renault UK Clio Cup gets underway this month [April] with 18 action-packed races taking place alongside the ever-popular British Touring Car Championship. Back on the grid for his first full season is Daniel Rowbottom, with his own DRM team and a new main sponsor, Cataclean.

Cataclean is a UK-manufactured premium engine and fuel system detoxification technology, designed to dissolve resin, gum, carbon and other similar deposits which build up in the fuel system and catalytic converter.

“Last year I perhaps underestimated just how tough the competition is in the UK Clio Cup,” commented 27-year-old Rowbottom. “But I’m coming back to it a lot wiser and with a very committed and proactive sponsor in Cataclean who see the benefits of being part of the UK Clio Cup grid.”

Will Fewkes, Renault Sport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager, said: “It’s great to see Daniel back with us in 2017 and also have him bringing a global automotive brand such as Cataclean to the grid.”

Cataclean is sold in the UK as well as being exported to over 15 countries around the world. Hong Kong and Macau have recently become the latest importers of the product in an effort to help tackle the issues of poor air quality in the cities.

Numerous independent tests have verified that Cataclean not only reduces exhaust emissions, often by enough to make the difference between a vehicle failing or passing an MOT, but it can also improve fuel consumption and increase vehicle performance. As well as being available through most major motor factors and online via Amazon and Halfords, Cataclean is also carried by all 1,400 RAC patrol vehicles.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Cataclean’s Corporate Development Director Graham Fraser said, “We’re thrilled to be the main sponsor for Daniel and his DRM team in this season’s Clio Cup. Our product is all about improving vehicle performance and we’re excited to be a part of this series of true performance cars.”

The 2017 Renault UK Clio Cup gets under way at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in Kent with the opening two rounds of the season on Sat 1/Sun 2 April. All 18 races on the calendar will take place at the British Touring Car Championship’s high profile events meaning huge trackside crowds (38,000+ on average in 2016) and live free-to-air television coverage on ITV4 for its teams, drivers and sponsors.
